Angelia Miranda Hutchens, affectionately known as “Mandy,” was born on November 11, 1963, to the late Reba Mae Curry and Billy Thompson. She was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on September 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mandy graduated from Madison County High School with the Class of 1981. She possessed an amazing work ethic and worked at Athens Regional Medical Center for over 15 years. Mandy was a phenomenal mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many.

Mandy loved shopping with her dear friend Bernita Hitchcock, affectionately known as her “road dog,” and spending time with her beloved grandchildren, Kylie and Kainan Lawrence. In 2004, she founded Mrs. Mandy’s Daycare, where she lovingly nurtured and cared for generations of children as if they were her own for over 22 years.

Mandy was a member of New Grove Baptist Church, where she faithfully served for decades.

Mandy was married to Michael Hutchens, whom she leaves to cherish her loving memory, along with her daughter, Tarmeika Curry; son, Xavier (D’Amber) Lawrence; grandchildren, Kylie and Kainan Lawrence; brothers, Ronnie (Velma) Curry, Leslie (Patricia) Curry, Dwayne (Mary D.) Curry, Keith (Takeila) Curry, Ronnie Thompson, Tellas (Tonya) Thompson, Robin (Greg) Wright, Alicia Thompson, San Thompson, Tracy Jones, Demetrius Sherrer, Darrin (Sharon) Sherrer, Paul Kelly, and Belinda Thompson; father-in-law, Johnny Hutchens; brother-in-law, Derek Lousie Hutchens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mandy will always be remembered for her loving spirit, infectious personality, and the love and care she so freely gave to others.

Mandy’s family would also like to extend special thanks to one of her dearest friends, Wendy Daniel, and her beloved sister-in-law, Velma Curry. Throughout the difficult times, Wendy and Velma remained faithfully by Mandy’s side, helping her operate the daycare and providing loving care and support throughout her journey. Their kindness, dedication, and unwavering presence will forever be cherished and deeply appreciated.
