She was born to Rosetta Green on January 2, 1956, in Summerton, SC.
She was lovingly raised by Joe and Mary Canty Billups.
She graduated from Scott’s Branch Highschool in 1972 and graduated cum laude from Benedict College in 1976.
She worked at Howard University, North Carolina Central, Morris College, Benedict College, and Clarendon School District One, where she assisted with college recruitment, accounting, the College of Education, and social work.
She conducted extensive interviews and research on the Briggs v. Board of Education case, and her work is now being used in educational lectures.
She is survived by her daughter, LaToya M. Billups of Charlotte, NC; her granddaughter, Dailah M. Blanding of Decatur, GA.
She is also survived by her sibling, William Green of Tampa, FL. Her siblings who preceded her in death are James R. Billups, Dorothy Mae Green, Richard Green, John Andrews, Rosa Mae Kennedy, James King, and Edward Andrews. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Janice Andrews.
She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews that she loved dearly, extended family, and friends.
