Charles Henry Robinson

December 11, 1949 - December 19, 1925

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that the family of Charles Henry Robinson announces that he was called home by God's angels of mercy on Friday evening, December 19, 2025, for everlasting peace and rest. While he will be deeply missed, we take solace in knowing that those whom we hold most dear never truly leave us. They live on in the kindness they showed; the comfort they shared; the love they brought into our lives; the wonderful, everlasting memories imbued by their life’s actions; and the inspiration they evoked.

Charles was born to the late Thurston and Julia Robinson on December 11, 1949, in Watkinsville, Georgia, which is also where he was reared. Charles was educated in the Oconee County School System. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age – during which time he joined Shady Grove Baptist Church in Watkinsville, Georgia. In 1969, he was conscripted by the United States Army to serve and defend his country. He did so courageously and honorably from 1969-1975, serving two years on active duty – including a tour in Vietnam – and four in the Army Reserve. Following his military service, Charles joined the civilian workforce and started a family.

Charles was a devoted and loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend known for his gentle way, warm heart, and beautiful smile. He is survived by his son Wayne Robinson (Monroe, Georgia); brothers Guy Robinson (Hull, Georgia) and Harold Robinson (Athens, Georgia); sister Mae “Mary” Smith (Binghamton, NY); sister-in-law Thelma Robinson (Athens, Georgia); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son David Robinson (Greene County, Georgia).

A graveside celebration of Charles’ life, which will include full military honors, will be held at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery located at 825 Winterville Rd., Athens, Georgia 30601 at 11 a.m. on January 8, 2026.
