HENRY GRADY HILL was born in Oglethorpe County on February 20, 1941, to Mrs. Nancy Watkins Hill and Mr. Joel Hill. He passed from this earthly life on June 3, 2024.
Henry, affectionally known as "Chief," was the oldest of eight siblings and the type of person one could easily like and appreciate. He was a very grateful person who had a zest for walking on the eastside of town carrying his shoes or wearing them, especially during the summer months. Henry would often do small odds and ends jobs for pay that should have been two to three times more than the pay he received.
Despite it all, he was very grateful because that meant snacks for him at the end of the day.
After losing his sight, Henry continued to walk by faith and was confident that God was walking with him and would not allow anyone or anything to cause him harm. Henry enjoyed listening to the audio Bible and gospel music every chance he could get. The Lord has been good to our brother, and he has brought him from a mighty long way.
Thank you, Lord, for the eighty-three years we had to cherish him here on earth.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. Nancy Watkins Hill and Mr. Joel Hill; and siblings, Eddie "Pete" Hill, Clifford "Puny" Hill, Derren "Dig" Hill, Lila Hill Williams, and Francy Hill Lester.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters Nancy Hill Sims (his loving, caring, and devoted caretaker) and Pauline Hill both of Athens, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
