Kevin Obed McDuffie, 67, of Athens, passed away on October 19th. Kevin was born on September 17th, 1956, to John and Reba McDuffie in Savannah, Georgia.
Kevin attended Jefferson High School, where he participated in track and cross country. He was also part of the champion wrestling program, where he often placed 1st in his weight class. After graduating, he attended junior college and began a life-long career in various retail management positions. At one time, he contributed to a sports blog, 5onfive, where he shared his love of writing and sports.
Kevin became a father to two children: Madison McDuffie Cooper and Eric Scott. He became a grandfather to Madison’s two children: McKay Reid and Kameron Reid. He also befriended many people with whom he worked.
In 2019, Kevin retired from RGIS, an inventory company, where he worked as an area manager. Since then, he enjoyed spending time completing crossword puzzles, watching movies and sports, reading newspapers, grilling, and spending time with his family.
Kevin was predeceased by his father, John McDuffie, and brother-in-law Larry Jones (Reba). He is survived by his mother, Reba W. McDuffie; his siblings, David McDuffie (Tammy), Reba M. Jones, Susan M. Benjamin (Lynn), John Duane McDuffie; his children, Madison Cooper (Alex), and Eric Scott. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a viewing on Thursday, October 26th, from 2pm to 6pm at Gardenview Funeral Chapel located at 605 Olympic Drive, Athens, Georgia. The celebration of life service will be Friday, October 27th at 11am at the same location.
