Tongela Denise McBride (Peaches) was born on June 17, 1975 in
Anderson South Carolina to Erskine Campbell and Ann Hatten and
transitioned out of her earthly life on July 20, 2026. From an early age she
resided under the care of her paternal grandmother, the late Annie Mae
Campbell, where she established a strong moral foundation in the church.
She had a passion for singing and loved being surrounded by loved ones.
One of Peaches’ significant accomplishments include her graduation from
Lincoln College, earning her Associate’s Degree and becoming a
Registered Medical Assistant. However, the role she cherished most was
being a mother. She dreamed of having a big family to indulge in weekly
Sunday dinners with. Although her life was far from easy, she had a good
heart, a strong mind and kind soul. As we mourn her loss, we also
celebrate all of the laughs and the good times we shared with her over the
years.
Tongela was proceeded in death by her daughter, Jaliyah Humphrey and
her grandparents Charlie and Annie Mae Campbell, and Gracie Campbell.
She is survived by six children- Kiera (Maurice) Gayle of Nashville TN,
Camryn McBride of Athens GA, Clarasia Mines of Athens GA, Cahleb
Mines of Athens GA, Zoey Brown of Gwinett, GA and Colin McBride of
Athens GA; Two sisters- Victoria McBride of Miledgeville GA and Termica
(Demetrius) Wardlaw of Anderson SC; Four grandchildren- Nyla, Zola,
Jachike, and Chikezie; Nieces and nephews-Robert, Deon, Joshua,
Jonathon, Jahlil, Xzavine, and Mariah; along with a host of aunts, uncles,
family and friends.
